For Buick’s new advanced exterior lighting system they worked closely with 3M. The new LED taillight design comes with a uniform red glow in a shape that hasn’t been seen before. This new innovative taillight design takes the baton from Buick’s other ‘lighting’ ventures, which include their daytime running lamps and also their ambient lighting.
Buick Design’s Executive Director, Mark Adams, discussed what consumers can look forward to, with respect to this technology, stating that, “As a brand driven by intelligent design and technology, Buick has to be at the forefront of purposeful, modern design cues. Our signature LED lighting serves a double purpose of providing a premium look and making sure our vehicles are unmistakable in the eyes and mirrors of other drivers on the road. Some of the new Enclave’s design cues will carry over to other Buick models to come, but every execution will be true to each model’s character.”
The new technology on the Buick Enclave will work thanks to 3M’s Uniform Lighting Lens technology. 3M’s technology will use a micro-patterned material that provides an illumination around compound shapes while using fewer LED lights.
